I hear they make charge against us with lies
that we sought to destroy institutions.
Truth not for nor against institutions.
What indeed has truth in common with them?
What effect has their hate on destruction?
No destruction but creation we seek
in Bay area and every city
of these States whether inland or seaboard,
And in field, wood, and marsh amongst aromatic calamus,
and amongst every troop that frees the wide open earth for us,
Without artifices or rules or shame or any neglect of
Free institution of brotherly love.
